Rooibos, grown on the rugged slopes of South Africa's Western Cape, has a rich heritage dating back to 1772 when botanist Carl Humburg first discovered the indigenous "red bush" plant. Locals in the Cedarberg region crafted this sweet infusion by bruising the leaves, fermenting them, and drying them in the sun—a tradition passed down by the Khoi peoples.
